On June 1st, I cut off all my natural hair. I left my job on May 31st and was ready to leave behind a toxic past and create a new start. I dealt with depression and anxiety for years. From the time I lost my dad, the day before my 16th birthday, and after unhealthy relationships and work environments. It was time for me to take my power back and do something different. I went and got help from a therapist and this decision sparked the necessary change needed to help change my life for the better.
I finally spoke my truth publicly about my battle with depression in a long post on social media detailing some of the events that led to my daily battle at that time. Click the link to view the post and read my background story to my this video.
It took me three tries to find the right therapist that was a good fit. My therapist now was divinely sent. Upon seeing her face, while scrolling through photos online and reading bios, intuitively, I knew she was the one. Let's just say I was right! I guess the third time's the charm, right? I started therapy in February and am still going strong. I understand now it takes time for healing to take place. It is not an overnight fix. Many are dealing with trauma from childhood therefore, we must be patient with self and the journey to healing. I hope my story inspires you to not give up, seek help, a supportive environment and to love yourself through.
