What about the “duties” you perform everyday in life? Let's say you wake up early in the morning, drag yourself out of bed, with little to no sleep, preparing for another long day at that job you dread! You are working a job that doesn't fulfill you in order to make ends meet. You're not using the gifts and talents God gave you so you don't fully feel complete. It's like a void deep down inside that's not being filled. You know there's so much more to life than this but when will that "more" ever come. This is a simple example that can apply to different areas of our lives with the very things we are involved in. Many of us are not happy with what we are doing in life. We become complacent and make excuses instead of doing something about it. Again, my question is, what must you do in order to get clear about what you want for your life?
Well, I can help you out a little but it's really up to you. You must be willing to recognize those areas that are not clear. You have to get honest about your truth. Your truth is not only what someone has done or what has happened to you but also what you allowed and contributed. You must go to that place that may not be comfortable and easy to go to because that place is where your liberation resides and discovery of self begins. Every hurt, and pain or any experience that has shaped a false of reality of the person you’re portraying... BREAK IT! The only way to break this is to allow ourselves to be vulnerable and live in your truth. After accepting your truth you must change the way you talk to yourself and what you think. The bible says "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he"- Proverbs 23:7. Therefore, change up your thoughts and focus on things that are true, pure, noble, righteous, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). Speak positive affirmations to yourself everyday beginning with the words 'I AM' and don't stop there... write it down! At the end of the week or every day, if you like, write down something you have done to overcome a personal struggle.
I encourage you to read my Goals Challenge, a self-rewarding guide to help people achieve their goals, overcome personal hurdles in life and do what makes them happy. If you struggle with, for example, speaking up to people make an effort to voice your opinion and what YOU want the next time a situation presents itself. In addition, be sure to acknowledge the little steps you made along the way! Let's say you can't quit that job you don’t love because it does, in fact, keep a roof over your head, but you know you have a passion for something else. Make steps to pursue that very thing that would make you excited to wake up in the morning. Whether that's your dream job, volunteering, traveling or a specific hobby you love make time to fulfill that. Stop making excuses for yourself because if you don’t start now you will continue to create excuses that could lead to missed opportunities and lack of fulfillment in life. This is not about making a huge transformation over night but respecting and trusting the journey to help you evolve into your ultimate best spiritual being and doing the things you love.
I'll leave you with this as we are of service to others we must learn to be of service to ourselves.
