I joined the 30 Day Transformation Team, ran by celebrity trainers Luther and Kathy Freeman August of 2015. Luther and Kathy worked with celebrities like Steve and Marjorie Harvey, Vince Herbert and Tamar Braxton-Herbert, Dwayne and Gabrielle Wade, Dj Khaled and many more! They are known for transforming people's lives in as little as 30 Days. I was so impressed with the transformation I saw on Kathy's Instagram and Luther's Instagram I had to look further into it!
Before joining, I initially weighed 184lbs, the most I ever weighed in my life. I decided when I started this journey to I post journey, any journey at that, using #AuthenticInspires to inspire others to embrace an "Authentic Life," and to unashamedly own their truth as I am on a journey to own my truth. As I looked at my pictures, (top two), I began to reflect on my life during that particular time. I, like many others, was going through my rough moments in life and allowed myself to waddle in my mess. I looked for an outlet to soothe my pain and the hurt I was feeling. I loved to eat and cook so food became an outlet. It was something that tasted good so psychology it was a good thing that gave me temporary satisfaction. It's like a drug that gives you a high and numbs the pain for that moment, but once that high is gone you feel down again and you go back for more and more. It was an escape from the things I held on to over the years and from the pain I felt during that season of my life. I wasn't happy and instead of doing something positive about it, it became easier to dig a deeper hole for myself and not break that negative habit; I was comfortable in my misery. I wasn't content with my life or myself and I searched for things to fill my voids. It was later on in my life, I realized, no one could fill those voids but GOD. I had to gain back control over my life and I had to want to do better for myself. Like the saying goes, no one can help you until you want to help yourself!
I tried to exercise more but I wasn't consistent. Sometimes I would eat less and healthier and other times I would consume what ever I wanted. I fluctuated over the years with my weight from 174 to 180, due to stress, depression and using food as my medicine. The summer of 2015, early May, I returned to the United States from Queretaro, Mexico. My group and I had a rough flight back so we took a photo for memories sake. I stared at myself in that photo and felt completely embarrassed because I weighed 184lbs and I let myself go. I had to make a change and so I did! My mother helped me with my food intake and I began to work out to Jillian Michaels with Beyoncé on repeat! By late July, I went from 184lbs to 174lbs. It took me 1.5 to 2 months to lose that weight and I had a lot more to go!
I heard about the 30-Day Transformation Team program and became eager to join as I watched the videos and viewed photo transformations of people that lost a significant amount of weight from this program. I told my mother about the program and finally convinced her to join with me for 90 days! Early August, we joined the program and within 7 days I lost 7lbs. I continued to follow the plan but wound up having a few slip ups throughout the first month causing my weight to fluctuate again. Instead of eating the meal plan my coaches provided I would have pizza or tacos for the weekend and slacked in working out for about two weeks due to a common cold and laziness; keeping it real but no excuses! I got back on track and since October 9th I have completed 6 weeks of the program and have lost down to 164lbs. Here is the crazy thing… I dropped 10lbs, from 184 to 174, and there was only a SLIGHT difference, but notice I dropped an additional 10lbs, from 174 to 164, being on my plan, and there's a SIGNIFICANT difference! I don't fully understand the science behind my coaches' method but the proof is in the pictures... IT WORKS! Everyone's journey is different some have lost up to 20lbs in 30 days, but if you follow the plan to the T you will have SIGNIFICANT results. I did not follow my plan to the T and I do believe if I would have my results would have been greater. However, I am proud of progress and growth. I am proud to be a part of this program because it's not only transforming me physically but it is transforming my life. The program is teaching me discipline and the importance of commitment and consistency. If I want results I have to put in the work. The very things we want in life will require us to change certain habits, develop a positive mindset and work hard! And that was my journey. Being on this program has showed me what I am capable of doing and increased my confidence level! Life may have you at a standstill but it's up to you to take your life back each and every time.
